Trainspotting

Synopsis:
This film trainspotters directed by Danny Boyle, is about a group of friends from Scotland with a serious addiction to heroin. A common day in their lives would be for them to lounge around a house, and take those shots, which to them feels like heaven. Mark Renton the main character decides that it’s time for him to give up the drug and stay clean for the rest of his life and so his friends decide to do so also. After Mark has been clean for a while of the drugs, he figures that going to London to look for work and to escape his old lifestyle would be the best option for him. However his friends follow him on this journey. Whilst they are all in London, their friend Tommy unfortunately dies back in Scotland leaving the friends no option but to go back for his burial and to pay last respects. Whilst back in Scotland a proposition for them to sell drugs that could bag them a lot of money arises and the gang do nothing but except the offer. Once all the drugs have been sold, and the money has been made, Mark decides to steal the money and run away to begin building the life he wanted on his first trip to London.

There was a lot controversy surrounding the film. The film states "drugs are good at first". Critics obviously thought this was a wrong thing for them to state. However, the film goes on to saying "but it's not worth it because the side effects will screw you up forever", and this portrays the message of the film in a very poignant manner.

The budget for this movie was only £2m. A reasonably low amount considering that it made the producers a £38m profit.

Although the film is set in Edinburgh, the majority of the film was shot in Glasgow. Thereafter, the film crew go and film in London.

Trainspotting was distributed in Miramax Home Entertainment and PolyGram Filmed Entertainment. The filmed went worldwide therefore distributed in all western countries such as The US, Germany, Spain, and Russia Turkey.
